Is It Necessary to Lift the Suspension on a Nissan Patrol?

I recently purchased a Nissan Patrol and have been considering lifting the suspension. I've heard it can improve off-roading capabilities, but I'm unsure if it's worth the cost. Can anyone provide some advice?
