Is the Nissan Navara a reliable vehicle for off-roading?

I'm planning a trip to the mountains and I'm wondering if the Nissan Navara is a good choice for off-roading. I've heard mixed reviews and I'm not sure if it can handle rough terrain. Can anyone share their experiences with this vehicle?
