Which is better for off-roading: Nissan X-Trail or Toyota Highlander?

I am an adventurous person and I'm looking for a reliable and powerful SUV for my outdoor activities. I am torn between choosing the Nissan X-Trail and the Toyota Highlander. Can anyone give me some advice on which one would be a better choice for off-roading?

I have a friend who owns a Nissan X-Trail and he loves it for off-roading. He says it has excellent traction control and a smooth ride even on rough terrain.

I personally own a Toyota Highlander and it has never let me down on my off-road trips. It has a high ground clearance and great suspension for bumpy roads.
