Is it necessary to use synthetic oil in a Nissan Patrol?

I recently bought a Nissan Patrol and I am wondering if it is necessary to use synthetic oil for maintenance. My neighbor says it's a waste of money, but others say it's better for the engine. What are your thoughts?

Synthetic oil is definitely worth the extra expense. It provides better protection for your engine and can improve performance. Plus, it can go longer between oil changes.
